Wellness incentives could cut state health care costs 2/2/2010
Friday's cutoff will formally kill off a number of bills that were introduced merely to start a conversation. Oftentimes, these bills tackle complex subjects by calling for sweeping change.
Sen. Rodney Tom's Senate Bill 6756 is one such measure and, as you will see in the video below, it attempts to curtail how much is spent on providing health benefits to public employees.
Stumping for family planning funding, pregnancy services 2/1/2010
As you'll see in the video below, Sen. Rodney Tom, D-Bellevue, told the several hundred gathered on the Capitol steps for the annual reproductive rights rally this afternoon that the state's family planning budget will remain intact.
"We will make sure that is in our budget," Tom said. "It is an absolute must."

Tom: Budget shows magnitude of the problem 12/10/2009
Sen. Rodney Tom, D-Bellevue, appeared on Wednesday's airing of The Impact on TVW to talk about the budget proposal Gov. Chris Gregoire released yesterday.
Tom, vice chair of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, said that, if nothing else, the proposal illustrates the magnitude of the state's budget problem lawmakers will begin tackling when they convene for a 60 day legislative session Jan. 11.
