About Sharon
Sharon is serving her first term in the Senate after representing the 34th District in the House of Representatives since 2007.
The 34th District includes parts of Burien, North Highline, Vashon and Maury Islands, and West Seattle.
A failing septic tank at her home had led her in 1996 to politics and citizen activism, resulting in a consumer protection bill that successfully passed into law. As founding president of Preserve Our Islands and for two terms as a State Representative, Sharon was a leader in the environmental fight to successfully prevent gravel mining on Maury Island in 2010.
Sharon also was Chief of Staff for then King County Councilmember Dow Constantine, where she worked on a broad range of public policy issues, including complex land use legislation.
Prior to her work on the County Council, Sharon served as a Vice President for Seafirst Bank.
She has lived on Maury Island since 1994 with her husband John. Sharon and John have two grown daughters, Amy and Lyssa Ann, and they live with their dog, Abby.
