5th District projects included in Senate Capital Budget 4/10/2013

The Washington State Senate has proposed a $3.4 billion dollar capital budget that includes funding for significant improvement projects in the 5th Legislative District.

"I'm ecstatic that our district was able to get funding for our major improvement projects despite the budget shortfall and the fund sweeps that the operating budget took out of it," said Sen. Mark Mullet, D-Issaquah. "These projects will have a direct positive impact on our community by creating jobs for the construction of these projects and the improved quality of life when they’re finished."

Maple Valley ‘doughnut hole’ closer to annexation as Senate approves change to planning policies 3/13/2013

Nearing the deadline for proposals to be approved in the Legislature, the Washington State Senate today approved a measure that would amend state Growth Management Act requirements for a local municipality to annex land within its boundaries. The change would allow the City of Maple Valley to annex a "doughnut hole" property – a parcel completely surrounded by city boundaries.
